SENCOs

SENCOs

The recently published Department for Education funded report Evaluation of the impact and effectiveness of the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination found that SENCOs completing the award felt that they required more support with budget management and funding; working with outside agencies; supporting pupils; training, supporting and managing staff; understanding/implementing current legislation.

We support schools and SENCOs by:-

  • Supporting new SENCOs, yet to complete the NASENCO training
  • Providing networking and collaborative working opportunities locally
  • Assisting with the compilation and updating of the SEND register for each Census, to ensure you receive the correct funding
  • Ensuring that schools are able to demonstrate effectively the impact of funding spent on external agencies
  • Ensuring that the school is able to demonstrate the effective deployment of support staff
  • Signposting to other outside agencies and ensuring SENCOs can demonstrate the effectiveness of their intervention
  • Helping schools to meet the legal requirement to meet parents/ carers of children with SEND three times a year, by providing extra capacity at review times
  • Testing for Access Arrangements to ensure all students receive that level playing field at examination time
  • Providing or supporting the implementation of a whole school monitoring system for Access Arrangements
