Parents and carers

The Department for Education recently funded a report into the training which all new Special Educational Needs Coordinators must complete. Read it here During the process of compiling the report the writers consulted with parents as well as children and school staff. They found that:-

  1. Over a third of parents and carers felt that they were ‘hardly’ or ‘not at all’ considered as an equal partner in supporting their child’s achievement or wellbeing.
  2. A third of pupils did not feel supported and did not have opportunities to have their voices heard.

We help parents/ carers and children with SEND to feel supported by providing access to specialist advice:-

  • Through a free initial consultation
  • With follow up consultations to discuss further action
  • Working in collaboration with schools to address parental concerns
  • Through training events for parent groups
